Globetrotter Gil Morieras joins as business development mgr after a commercial career in plastics

Recently Zeopore welcomed Gil Morieras, a chemical engineer who served global plastics industries in various sales and business development roles. He interacts and negotiates with large international corporations for many years and is looking forward to use his experience for the benefit of Zeopore. Gil will predominantly focus on commercializing Zeopore's unprecedented technologies in emerging circular applications and opportunities in sustainable refining and chemical industries.

In his youth, Frenchman Gil turned out to be an exceptionally good swimmer and considered pursuing a sports career. Ultimately, he studied chemical engineering in Lyon and general management in Fontainebleau. Gil Morieras: "As a student I gained interest in plastics and the flourishing plastics industry. I developed more appetite in commercial rather than technical jobs, so I started off as sales engineer PE/PP in France. I like going places, interact with people, and establish win-wins."

On the geographical side, Gil's career gradually extended from France to Europe, Americas, Middle East and beyond. Along the way, he has amongst other parties worked for Sabic, Omya, Multibase, Ampacet, and Kronos. The past years he worked for Borouge, a JV between Borealis and ADNOC, allowing him to cover the whole (petro)chemical supply chain from refining, over base chemicals to end product, truly a flying start for the Zeopore assignment.

"The common thread for me is maximising value to customers while bringing to market products that protect the planet, people and business profitability. I have always developed strong relationships with prospects and customers while taking on roles in business development, sales and marketing. Thinking out of the box is essential to capitalize on emerging commercial paths, even more so as an innovation manager.”

Zeopore is no stranger for Gil. "Kurt and I had previously crossed paths while I worked on a Crude-to-Chemical initiative and while I had my sights on plastics recycling. So I am aware that Zeopore delivers essential components that increase the performance and sustainability of catalytic processes in established and emerging markets alike. When considering the latter, I see immense potential for Zeopore in the rapidly developing chemical plastic recycling, biomass conversion and carbon capture applications. I am impressed about the technical excellence of Zeopore and I am excited to drive the commercialization of zeolite based catalysts internationally."
